What should I do about my frequent panic attacks and nausea?
Posted on Nov 19, 2008 under panic attacks |I’ve been having panic attacks for about a year now. I also usually have like a lump in my throat feeling and nausea. I saw a doctor a few months ago and she prescribed me some Lorazepam. The med did not work very well, and I still have panic attacks.
I have panic attacks because I start thinking of getting them or getting nauseous. So in a way, I have developed a fear; I'm pretty sure I must have Panic Disorder.
Try cognitive therapy. It did wonders for me.

Maybe try an SSRI? Some of them do well with anxiety. (Lorazepam is a benzo.)
Your best bet is probably therapy. Or a combination of SSRI and therapy.

What’s causing your panic attacks? Did you have a bad experience or some traumatic event?
You should really be in therapy with a psychologist or psychiatrist. Don’t wait until it immobilizes you. Meds on their own are no good without therapy.
A psychologist might have more time to spend with you than a psychiatrist.
Look up your condition and do some reading on it. It shouldn’t cripple your life.

I know the feeling! Had it many times. Feels like you’re losing control…
I learned a technique to get control of my panic attacks. It seems very illogical, but it works! It’s based on a saying “What You Resist, Persists”.
“If you resist a situation out of fear, the fear around that issue will persist. How do you stop resisting – you move directly into it, into the path of the anxiety.”
It taught me the trick to end my panic and anxiety attacks is “to want to have one”. That sounds strange, even contradictory, but let me explain.
By wanting to have one - the wanting pushes it away. Can you have a panic attack in this very second? No! Try it. You won’t be able to have one…
Hope this helps.
