What symptoms are normal after a panic attack?
Posted on Oct 27, 2008 under panic attack symptoms |I had a panic attack on at about 4 AM Saturday morning.
I was yawning repeatedly (once every minute for about 20 minutes). Rapid heart rate, emotional symptoms, the works.
Sunday morning, I woke up with severe pain in my throat and upper chest. I felt like I had a huge lump in my throat. I have had trouble swallowing since then, both liquids and solids. I can’t take more than 75% of a breath. The most severe pain is located where my Adam’s apple would be if I had one. Help?
This is not typical of any symptoms I have ever experienced or read about. I would visit your doctor to discuss what you are feeling in your throat and chest.
If you have sought treatment for your panic attacks, it does not sound as though it is working and you should talk about this too.
Anxiety and panic attacks can be beat, but you need to find what works for you to stop them from happening. It is no fun living like this and it can be treated.
Here is a site that may help.
The best of luck to you.

That almost seems to be muscular/skeletal related, possibly due to an injury you sustained while hyperventilating and taking huge breaths (yawning repeatedly) during the panick attack. See a doctor if it continues. It is not a typical after effect, but can occur. It happens much like pulling a leg muscle or spraining an ankle from sports. Your body may have done something it wasn't used to doing, and is now paying the price.

Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc.
Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI - Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level.
But there are natural ways to do it without medication. There’s this strange herb called “St John’s Wort” - it is said to be more effective than Prozac. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John’s Wort works like prozac. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc.
The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced… you have that “learned behavior” in your mind. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior - Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction… There are several other techniques to help cope them!
Ok, to use Distraction: Firstly, try to….
