What is a panic/anxiety attack and what are the symptoms?
Posted on Oct 24, 2008 under panic attack symptoms |what causes it? What do you experience? Can they be prevented?
thank you for answering
i reallt need to know about this
There is really no prevention, except therapy, and getting to the source of the problem.
There are many causes
* too much stress emotionally (making decisions, parents divorce, physical abuse, keeping a secret etc…)
* teasing or harassment at school and/or in public (bullying, peer pressure, societies standards etc…)
* genetics (family illness such as bipolar, schizophrenia etc…)
Panic/Anxiety attacks are different for different people
*Intense crying that is very spontanious and out of the moment
*Thrashing fits of tears or heated anger
* Complete silence and the person closes off completely from any other being
* I’ve had experiences where I’ve had an asthma attack, but I believe that’s a rare reaction

the left side of your body goes numb. you feel like you’re going to throw up. though you might just start breathing heavy, and freak out. it’s never exactly the same.
take deep breathes and call 911.

I've had a few panic attacks before. For me it's usually caused by freaking out over something — usually when I'm totally stressed out. It might be that I have too much to do and not enough time For some people it's doing things that they have a fear of, like public speaking, there are lots of things that can cause them. When I have a panic attack my heart starts beating really fast, I feel like I can't think straight, and I cry uncontrollably. I usually hyperventilate and I have asthma, so the best thing to do is to try to calm myself down. To do that I try to breathe deeply, take a walk, sometimes take a hot shower, maybe drink a cup of tea. Basically try to do something that will relax you. If you have panic or anxiety attacks a lot, or if they are really bothering you, you should go see your doctor. Many anti-depressants also work for anxiety disorders, and you may be helped by medication.

The cause is a chemical imbalance in your brain. They can be prevented with proper medication. The cause can be anything!
My symptoms are shakiness, sweaty hands an feet, feels like i can’t breathe, dizzy, chest pains.
If you have these, please talk to your doctor about it. there are medications you can take that will really help you!
BTW, everyone has different symptoms

Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc.
Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI - Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level.
But there are natural ways to do it without medication. There’s this strange herb called “St John’s Wort” - it is said to be more effective than Prozac. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John’s Wort works like prozac. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc.
The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced… you have that “learned behavior” in your mind. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior - Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction… There are several other techniques to help cope them!
Ok, to use Distraction: Firstly, try to….
