Can obsessive compulsive disorder manifest as fear of sickness?
Posted on Nov 05, 2008 under obsessive compulsive disorder |as in intrusive thoughts (obsessions) of becoming sick (that go beyond hypochondriasis) leading to (compulsions) such as repeatedly (up to 20 times a day) asking others if they are going to be alright, if they are going to die, etc. Any thoughts and/or sources of information would be helpful. thanks
this is not about me, thanks anyway. but actual sources of information confiming my suspicions this is really what i need.

Any thought that occurs regularly and controls the well-being of the individual can be thought of as obsessive/compulsive because the person is not able to control the thought. If you think your clothing is never clean, if you feel your skin is always infested with germs, this is the obsessive part. The compulsive nature is when there is no trigger for the thought, it occurs on its own. Consider speaking with a medical expert.

I think that is what is wrong with me. Everything comes up normal on all blood work, exams, xrays, mri, catsans. It’s hard to come to terms with it though. I think after 15 years I finally am realizing maybe I made myself sick. Who knows? I’d speak to your doctor. And see a psychiatrist. That’s what I’m going to do.
