How can I get treatment for social anxiety?

Posted on Nov 30, 2008 under what is anxiety | 5 Comments

I’ve displayed several symptoms of social anxiety/phobia, but I don’t have any health insurance so I can’t seek professional help. I live in California - is there a program of some sort that can help me with this, that doesn’t require insurance?

View the information and weblinks for social anxiety/shyness, and self confidence, in sections 9, and 38, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris Here is an exercise that can help you. It is called “Act as If.” When you are in a social situation, act as if you are outgoing. Talk more, smile at everyone, ask questions, speak in a normal or excited tone, not a meek tone. Watch some of your outgoing peers, and imitate the style of their social behavior.

Research shows that when you “act as if” continually, your image of yourself begins to conform to your new behavior. In this case, you will gain self-esteem and self-confidence, and begin to see yourself as socially normal, not shy. You will become more socially successful, and this will motivate you to continue your new social behavior until it becomes a habit.

Try this for a month, in every situation you can. I am confident that you will become much more comfortable and outgoing. One form of therapy is to go somewhere that nobody knows you, and deliberately make an utter fool of yourself: put on a paper hat, and scream out: “I’m queen/king of America!”, or something else ridiculous, then get back in the taxi, (warn the driver of your intentions, first) or car, and leave.

People will point, and say: “Look at that idiot”. But, you’re probably not up to the stage where you can do that, yet (I can, and I used to be shy). It will teach you that, although it isn’t actually pleasant, you will survive; be stronger for the experience, and the next time (should you need to repeat this type of therapy) will be considerably easier. Remember: “A fear avoided is a fear strengthened; a fear faced is a fear reduced.” Regard it as your final test: once you have accomplished it, the barrier will be broken; just don’t go too far, the other way! Learn to laugh at yourself, and give a big, cheesy grin when others see you do something foolish, as we all do, occasionally. It is endearing, if you don’t do it too often. Use positive affirmations: for example: “I am very likable and other people feel comfortable around me”.

Write down all of your self limiting beliefs; then write down the positive counter of them, (exact opposite) and repeat them and imprint them into your mind.
Most importantly: Force yourself to approach somebody and initiate some sort of communication. Start out small by asking the time and directions and gradually go bigger.

Although there are anti-anxiety medications (anxiolytics) available, these come with risks, and the possibility of side effects, habituation, even addiction, and withdrawal problems, and are unsuitable for young people.

Try having a cup of “Tension Tamer”, herbal tea, by Celestial Seasonings, (from supermarket tea, or health food aisles) or make some at home, and cool, then bottle, and drink as needed (I find it so strong tasting, that I need to drink it quickly, followed by something like fruit juice, to take away the taste, but others may find it more tolerable). C(h)amomile tea is a more palatable option. As with all herbal/green teas, use lemon/lime, and/or a little sweetener (NOT ARTIFICIAL!!!) but no cream, or milk.

Xylitol, or Stevia is preferable, (health food stores) or fruit sugar (fructose, such as “Fruisana”, from supermarket sugar aisles) or even a little honey, because these will reduce “sugar spikes”. Valerian has also been recommended, but some people experience “valerian hangovers”. Ensure you know how you react to it, before doing something potentially dangerous, like going out on the roads. The idea is to use the above like water wings, to provide initial, short term support, while you become proficient in the above techniques.

is there an over-the-counter anxiety pill on the market right now?

Posted on Nov 29, 2008 under what is anxiety | 3 Comments

yeah so i’m pretty sure i have anxiety. its to the point where it messes with my daily routines. i need something over the counter to take daily so i won’t have to have a prescription unless i feel its become such a problem that i need to go to the doctor about it.

Saint Johns wort.

I used to feel the same way. Please take this into consideration. It worked for me, although I am not you.

I had overwhelming anxiety. It turned out to be my use of Splenda. Yup Splenda. How could something that taste so good, be so bad?

I like to say sucralose, not Splenda, because that is what Splenda is. And it is in a lot of stuff. Sadly, the package doesn’t have to say Splenda or diet to have sucralose in it. You have to read labels. So, you might be using it and don’t even know it!

Sucralose is poison. It ruined five years of my life. I had a laundry list of medical problems while taking it, including overwhelming anxiety, depression, mood swings, insomnia, gastrointestinal issues and more.

Go ahead, google: anxiety splenda or anxiety sucralose or insomnia splenda or insomnia sucralose

The slogan, “Made from sugar…” is very misleading. Splenda might be made from sugar, but it is far from sugar. The resulting chemical is an organochloride (chlorocarbon). Organochlorides are typically poisons.

carbon monoxide - made from oxygen so its like a breath of fresh air

ANXIETY in the End Times as All MEN Fail

Posted on Nov 28, 2008 under what is anxiety | No Comment

This is The Design of Anxiety, communicating about anxiety. Anxiety is a very fascinating manifestation - it originates within the solar plexus and then it forms a V-shaped manifestation within your human physical body.

So, it originates in your solar plexus - which is the ‘bottom point’ of the V - and then it stretches out - and then it manifests at two points in your chest area, the two ‘top points’ of the V. Now, these specific two points is the ‘petrification of the future’, which is ‘fear of the future’. Now, the underlying nature of ‘fear of the future’ is ‘fear of death’. Now, I am presenting you the secret to the ‘fear of death’: the ‘fear of death’ is the anxiety that has been implanted, integrated, manifested, and infused within your entire mind consciousness system.

Now, what is interesting - what each human being will find within their processes - is that you’ll realize everything within you, it starts with, for instance, anxiety - and from anxiety, you can look in your world and there will be so many points, aspects, circumstances, events, and people that ignite this anxiety within you. But as you walk through your process and you apply self forgiveness and self application in every moment together with living self honesty, you will start realizing that you’ll get to a point where you’ll just see anxiety - there will be nothing else, just this anxiety - and then it is in that realization that it has always just been this anxiety of the mind consciousness system that has been here, but that anxiety has been connected by me through my allowance to other separate manifestations and sources from me. So, it is literally self forgiveness together with self application and living self honesty that disconnects this entire system you have built upon anxiety - and the same goes for any other emotion and feeling.

It really looks like a ‘tree’. It’s a ball of anxiety in the center of your solar plexus - from that, there’s these ‘relationships’ that grow up and grow up - then you have this ‘line’ and there’s a ‘picture’ and from that ‘picture’ there’s another ‘line’…and it is MASSIVE and huge, ‘this’ within human beings. So, as you apply forgiveness, you start completely removing this entire ‘tree system’ within you - and then you get to the source, which is just this anxiety. And then from there, you’ll realize I am not this anxiety. And then with that realization - you let it go, and you stop.

How to reduce anxiety in certain situations?

Posted on Nov 28, 2008 under what is anxiety | 3 Comments

I have a certain situation that always brings about huge levels of anxiety, to the point where my chest hurts, and I have OCD thoughts running through my head for days. This situation is not going to go away, so is there a way for me to learn to control or relieve my anxiety when this occurs?
Deep breaths help, but ofcourse I can't breath deeply continuously for days on end :)
I have a diagnosis of Major Depression, but I also have anxiety and mild OCD. I understand how you feel.

IMHO, You might want to try cutting back on any stimulants you are taking, like caffeine and see a counselor about anxiety issues.

Start with a complete physical to rule out any high blood pressure or cholesterol level issues, then ask your doctor to recommend a mental health professional. If income is a factor, most communities offer mental health services on a sliding fee scale, depending on your level of income.

best of luck to you!

Is my anxiety a result of being bullied as a child?

Posted on Nov 26, 2008 under what is anxiety | 7 Comments

I was severely bullied as a kid.
Form 5 - 12yrs of age i was the "target"…. fat, crooked teeth, frizzy hair, more developed, dumb..
Kids, mainly boys would call me names, spit on me, puch my boobs and push me down the stairs.

Things have changed now (15yrs old) and i have a few friends..

Lately i have been getting severe panic attacks..
Could being shy, isolated and bullied as a child have caused my anxiety issues.

The two could well be related and it wouldn't surprise me if they where. Having said that, I don't know what is happening in your life right now, for all I know there could be something else going on that could be causing/adding to it. Whatever the cause is I would advise you to go and seek help with this problem. Panic attacks are absolutely horrible to go through and in my experience problems like this will only get worse without treatment. Good luck!

http://www.guardianrelease.com The Guardian Release Method
Simply put is probably the most powerful yet simple way to release any and all Emotional negative states of mind that a person holds onto and interferes with life in general:

WHO IS THIS PROGRAM FOR?

Guardian is for every one of us that wants or needs to change something in our lives that is causing us distress or emotional upset. The list is long but here are just some of the issues that this method addresses and in a very short period of time with permanent results.

ANXIETY, PANIC ATTACKS, DEPRESSION, OBSESSIONAL COMPULSIVE DISORDER (OCD) GRIEF, APATHY, PTSD, to name just a few. Really virtually any area of your life will transform with continual use, and at lightening speed. Emotional upsets will begin to resolve sometimes in minutes.

Take a Phobia for instance: An irrational fear of something which you know is totally disproportionate to the actual event or object. This release method will dissolve this fear in minutes no matter what kind of fear or indeed no matter how long you may have suffered from it. PHOBIAS!! Are released in minutes!.

SEXUAL DYSFUNCTION (ED) Can be a real disabling issue for males of any age and can strike at any age too. Erectile Dysfunction or ED as it is known is cause mainly by wrongful thinking, and the fear of it is enough to trigger the event.
The release method will remove all fear and resolve ED giving back that confidence much needed to perform the task in hand. In fact this method will increase sexual libido when used, many times that of what we would consider normal.

ONE EXAMPLE

What happens to you when you try to stop yourself from worrying about a particular issue in life? Yes you got it, it sticks to you like glue, the more you try
to remove it the more it remains and actually increases in intensity until it feels like you are locked into a very vicious cycle of fear and then more fear and when that happens you feel like your mind is on auto pilot and feel totally at its mercy.
Well no more! Guardian Release will show you just how wrong you are, and give you back control total control. GUARANTEED!!

WHAT GUARDIAN IS NOT!!
Guardian is not some kind of Hypnosis. Has nothing to do with TFT or CBT.
Guardian has nothing to do with drugs or herbal medications whatsoever.

Guardian is the most natural and safe way there is to restore mental balance

Guardian will teach you to release any unwanted emotion in the moment.
Panic Attacks and Anxiety will be resigned to the past and the results are permanent without relapse. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) will be removed with continual use in around 48 hours depending on your commitment to practise. In fact you will see changes right from day one in the reduction of the traumatic recurring event. In fact when complete I challenge anyone to feel the reaction to fear of any kind. It just won’t happen. You will still retain your memories about any emotional upset but that’s all they will be Memories without the reaction to them.

DEPRESSION

Depression can feel like the world is totally black and without a future in life.
How wrong you could be. Watch this method dissolve depression in minutes.

Physical Illness

I make no claims here to treat or cure any kind of physical illness whatsoever, but after years of using the release method I have seen many wonderful things happening to people who were suffering from physical ailments. I have many testimonies which we won’t go into because testimonies are only as good as the proof of who sent them so I really see no point. All too often people spend hours writing testimonies from fictitious people so I will not insult your intelligence in doing that here. It just leads me personally to believe that emotional problems causing cellular internal stress may just be leading us to suffer from a physical condition. That’s just a personal opinion which the medical world is now looking at very seriously. Releasing on the emotional attachment to a particular illness would appear to resolve it. I have no explanation for this, but research is still very much ongoing. In particular the resolution of long standing chronic pain.

Guardian is quite simply the easiest way in which to change your life completely without long drawn out months or years of therapy. There are various methods out there which address ways to release us from our thoughts. People spend Hundreds of Dollars or Pounds on methods which totally miss the point.

Because our problems and issues seem like mountains to climb Human being think it takes a major effort to overcome their own particular problem. What if I told you that’s the farthest statement from the truth you could imagine?
You will read this method and learn it in minutes. Then take it with you for the rest of your life

How does consistent exercise change brain chemistry to overcome Social anxiety?

Posted on Nov 25, 2008 under what is anxiety | 2 Comments

I have severe social anxiety, agaraphobia and everything that comes under this family . I know exercise can make it go away and if I am 100% healthy then my anxiety will be 0% .

But I am trying to find out how it works ? .. What causes this huge change in brain that eliminates this destructive negative thinking patterns ? Anyone has any insights into this issues , please explain to me . Thanks

I have no scientific reason and can only tell you from experience that a brisk walk 20-30 min a day will help you feel so much better, I lost weight, had more energy, felt positive and had less stress. When you feel good inside it helps you to move forward and have confidence. Creates that chemical change in the brain with positive energy.

What are some good ways to reduce anxiety?

Posted on Nov 24, 2008 under what is anxiety | 8 Comments

I have had an anxiety disorder for as long as I can remember. What are some tips to calm me down?

Hi–I have had very bad anxiety too. I find psychotherapy (CBT) Cognitive Behavioral therapy very helpful at medications. Anxiety Medications are probably more "fast reacting" but therapy will give you tips to go throughout life & tips on staying calm. You really get a lot of cognitive restructuring in therapy. You don't think as negatively about the situation with anxiety or anything.Living with anxiety can truly be difficult. In addition to dealing with excessive worry, you may also have feelings of depression to cope with. Ultimately, anxiety may affect your interaction with friends and family, your productivity at work, and the overall quality of your life.

Some ways to cope with anxiety that I use along with Meds & therapy include:

-Joining an anxiety support group. Here, you can find compassion, understanding and shared experiences.
-Letting it go. Don't dwell on past concerns. Change what you can and let the rest take its course. Repeat as needed.
-Breaking the cycle. When you feel anxious, take a brisk walk or delve into a hobby to refocus your mind away from your worries.
-Taking care of myself. Get enough rest, eat a balanced diet, exercise and take time to relax. Avoid caffeine and nicotine, which can worsen anxiety. Don't turn to alcohol or unprescribed drugs for relief.
-Sticking to mytreatment plan.
-Socializing. Don't let worries make you isolated from loved ones or enjoyable activities. Touching base with others offers a healthy diversion.
