In multi-dog homes, do dogs who have ’separation anxiety’ experience symptoms when?

Posted on Nov 13, 2008 under anxiety symptoms | 7 Comments

other DOGS in the family are away from home? Suppose there are two dogs in the family and one is said to have separation anxiety, because it whines and scratches at the door continuously when the owner is away from home. If the OTHER DOG is away, will the dog with separation anxiety howl and scratch at the door until it returns?
Say, in the example, the second dog has been dropped off at the groomer, and the owner is back at home with the first dog.

no. separation anxiety is about the people not other pets.

Can anxiety/stress really cause pins and needles and other very odd symptoms?

Posted on Nov 03, 2008 under anxiety symptoms | 8 Comments

I went to see my Dr yesterday who has said she is 99% convinced my health situation is anxiety! I have been ill for 7 weeks, it started with a flu type virus along with abdominal pain, noticiable nodes in my groin area, odd cold running water sensations in my limbs, pins and needles, pressure feelings under my arms, very cold hands and feet, areas of my feet underneath sometimes feel numb. Even though my flu type symptoms have gone I have symptoms left e.g. pins and needles in my hands/arms/feet and legs almost constantly which feel numbish. Constant lightheadedness and the feeling of not being real, reactions to lights either bright or dim. I have been terrified that I am seriously ill with either some sort of cancer or MS!and have started thinking about how I will feel when I am told I have something and how I will manage to cope with it! My doc has done blood tests, CBC, kidney, liver functions, inflammation, diabetes, throid etc and is now sending me to a GP at the hosp!Anxiety?

You are descibing the classic physical symptoms of anxiety. That does not mean that you are making these symptoms up, they are a very real effect of a very real problem. Wether or not you have anything more serious you need to work on your anxiety levels if you want to be as healthy as you can. Try something like a Yoga class or Tai Chi.

what are some symptoms of anxiety?

Posted on Oct 22, 2008 under anxiety symptoms | 5 Comments

okay im a teenager and i think i might have anxiety. or something like that. its dring me crazy. what are some symptoms of it?

Anxiety is a normal reaction to stress. It helps you cope with tense situations. It also helps you focus on the task at hand and motivates you. Almost everyone experiences anxiety from time to time. Typically, anxiety goes away when the triggering event is resolved.
However, anxiety is a problem when it becomes an excessive, irrational dread of everyday situations, such as riding an elevator or leaving your house. People with anxiety disorder experience fear and worry that are out of proportion to the situation. These feelings are difficult to control and are more intense and last longer than normal feelings of anxiety. For instance, while it’s normal to feel anxiety before public speaking, a person with anxiety disorder may consistently worry about speaking with small groups of people in everyday situations.
Both normal worry and anxiety may be associated with the following symptoms. However, a person with anxiety disorder will experience these symptoms more frequently and intensely:
Restlessness
Fatigue
Irritability and crankiness
Muscle tension
Headaches
Sleep difficulties (unable to fall or stay asleep)
Feelings of panic, such as sweating and shortness of breath
If you find it difficult to control your worry or stress or if anxiety interferes with your daily activities, consult your doctor or a mental health professional. If you are diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, effective treatment is available.

Will physical and mental symptoms of anxiety vanish after getting out of depression?

Posted on Oct 14, 2008 under anxiety symptoms | 4 Comments

I suffer from weird mental symptoms of depression and anxiety due to problems i faced and still face since 3 yrs.. some of these symptoms are irrational thoughts and breathing problems.. what i want to know is that when i fix my problems and get out of depression, will these weird symptoms go?? Will i return normal? Please ppl who don’t know don’t answer thx :) I prefer answers from ppl who experienced these symptoms before.

Yes definitely you will return to your normal self. Anxiety & depression create a lot of weird thoughts, u can get out of the shower and all of a sudden your heart is beating fast, you find you can’t breathe properly, you want someone to help, but .. how will they understand??! The thing is, sometimes you can’t fix things by yourself, sometimes you need help. Sometimes you have to tell someone how you actually feel. Three years is a long time to carry it by yourself, let someone else help you! Think about someone you can trust; email them, text them, write to them. Tell them you need to talk to someone, tell them what you need or don’t need from them (eg lectures about right & worng). It took me awhile to trust, & when I did, I had to choose the right people. They are out there sometimes you just have to let them know. Be brave. Good luck xx

what are the symptoms of an anxiety disorder?

i think i have anxiety issues. its hard to describe it but im not so sure if it can be a disorder. all i know is that i feel uncomfortable a lot every day with certain things.
my mouth shakes when i feel uncomfortable, and my body sometimes shakes when i feel uncomfortable too, but rarely
i have depression and ocd too

Unexplained fear and worry, a feeling something is going to happen to you but you seem powerless to stop it. You may experience physical symptoms, like a fluttering in your chest, restlessness, trembling, sweating, irritability, difficulty sleeping. There are medications available that will help you cope with these problems and talking to a therapist might do some good too. I wish you luck as I am plagued with these bouts of anxiety too which further causes stress and health issues. Somewhat different than Panic attacks.

What symptoms do you get or stress about when you have anxiety? Please answer!?

I’m just curious as to what symptoms everyone and anyone with an anxiety disorder gets when they have anxiety. Not just attacks, but just plain anxiety.. Mine include weird feeling in head, my entire body tenses up, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, crying, vision problems, tension headaches, empty feeling in my head.. etc. The list goes on (this is why my anxiety is so hard to get rid off.)

I freak out any time I throw up a lot. I feel like I can’t breath and I start to cry and hyperventilate. Another thing I can’t handle for some reason is coming out of anesthesia. I start to freak out sobbing uncontrollably and can’t breathe. I think anytime I feel out of control with my body I freak out. I’m way scared about going into labor and being alone.

Are these normal anxiety symptoms?

Hi.Since having perimenopause symptoms start several years ago I have had to deal with some anxiety.I thought it had gone away but today, while back to school shopping with my kids I could feel myself getting so tense. My back and shoulders are so tense they ache,I am shaky on the inside, have a headache, feel like I have the flu almost.I also have the health anxiety, the feeling that something is horribly wrong with me(fear).I have the numb feelings in my hands and feet as well.I know the stress of back to school made me sick last year, but has anyone else felt like this before?Have you felt like you had the flu,but it was anxiety?Also-I took two tylenol(500mg a piece)for my headache-would it be safe to take a .25 mg xanax to help the anxiety? Thanks to all who answer,I hate anxiety!!! GOD-bless

I felt the same way. Please take this into consideration. It worked for me, although I am not you.

I had overwhelming anxiety. It turned out to be my use of Splenda. Yup Splenda. How could something that taste so good, be so bad?

I like to say sucralose, not Splenda, because that is what Splenda is. And it is in a lot of stuff. The package doesn’t have to say Splenda to have sucralose in it. You have to read labels. So, you might still be using it and don’t even know it!

Sucralose is poison. It ruined five years of my life. I had a laundry list of medical problems while taking it, including overwhelming anxiety, depression, mood swings, insomnia and more.

Go ahead, google: anxiety splenda or anxiety sucralose or insomnia splenda or insomnia sucralose

The slogan, “Made from sugar…” is very misleading. Splenda might be made from sugar, but it is far from sugar. The resulting chemical is an organochloride (chlorocarbon). Organochlorides are typically poisons.

carbon monoxide - made from oxygen so its like a breath of fresh air
